How are Revision Rhinoplasties Classified?

Revision rhinoplasties can be classified into two categories.
Some of these surgeries involve minor procedures lasting 15-20 minutes, where problems are addressed with minor adjustments.
In addition to these, there are major revision surgeries lasting 5-6 hours, where extra cartilage is taken from the ear or rib to reshape the nose.

What is the Recovery Time After Revision Rhinoplasty?

Patients should patiently wait after their initial surgeries, even if they are not happy with the results. If the results remain unsatisfactory after a healing period of 6-12 months, they should consider revision rhinoplasty. They should approach this decision without fear and remember that the choice of surgeon is crucial. Experienced surgeons who specialize in revision rhinoplasty, establish healthy communication with their patients, and understand their concerns can eliminate the problems and dissatisfaction the patient previously experienced through accurate analysis and meticulous planning.

Post-Operative Process for Nasal Surgeries

At our clinic under the supervision of Associate Professor Dr. Gürkan KAYABAŞOĞLU, the surgery lasts approximately 1 – 1.5 hours, but in special cases, it may take longer. Nowadays, bruising and swelling after rhinoplasty are observed to be less frequent. You will wake up with a small sponge inside your nose that will not obstruct breathing and a small plaster cast outside your nose.
Simple painkillers will help you get through this period comfortably. The nasal packing will be removed the next day, and you will be able to breathe normally. It is recommended to rest in a slightly elevated position or sitting position in a moderately warm environment after nasal surgery.

After Nose Aesthetic Surgery

1. The cast on the nose will remain for 7-10 days and should not get wet. Avoid being in extremely hot places as sweating may loosen the cast.
2. Be very careful when brushing your teeth for the first 10 days, especially when brushing your front teeth. It is important that your toothbrush is soft.
3. It is recommended to avoid excessive physical activity after surgery.
4. Avoid taking baths or being in a steamy environment until the bandages on your nose are removed.
5. We recommend avoiding excessive facial movements and laughing for a week.
6. It’s advisable not to wear turtleneck or tight-necked clothes for 20 days following the surgery.
7. Avoid touching your face and nose firmly for 3 weeks.
8. Stay away from excessive sunlight for 6 weeks after the operation, as excessive heat can cause swelling in the nose.
9. Swelling may occur under the eyes and on the face after nasal surgery, although much less frequently compared to older surgical techniques. These swellings will subside within 1-2 weeks.
10. Do not take any medication other than those prescribed by your doctor.
11. Do not wear contact lenses for 5 days after the surgery.
